I'm the Green Party of Ontario candidate for Ottawa Centre in 2011 and I wrote this application to answer my own question:

Where is the highest support for the Green Party of Ontario in Ottawa Centre?

To find that answer this application uses the geographic data provided by Elections Ontario and combines it with the 2007 poll-by-poll Ontario election results. After a few hours of lost sleep I had my answer: Fenn Lounge in Carleton University ... Go Ravens.

I believe that well informed citizens result in better governments. So instead of keeping this application behind the curtains I wrote it to work for all ridings, all candidates, all parties, and have given everyone access.

Pick a riding then a candidate and see where they did well or did poorly. Drop me a note if you have a thought on what else the application could do.

BASIC MAPS, Ontario

ELECTION RESULTS, Ontario, 2007

  2. Click on the vote totals for a candidate.
  3. WAIT! This part might take ~30 seconds.
  4. Click on the Votes column header a few times to re-sort the table.
  5. The "Advanced Polls" always bubble to the top and they can't be mapped.
  6. Click the checkbox on each row that you want to display. The map will zoom into that poll.
  7. After clicking on a few of them (maybe "top 20") you can zoom the map back out.
